The Miami Marlins sought a new way to deepen the organization’s connection with their fans, while providing a new way for fans to engage with the team and feel empowered to buy tickets. It was also important for the solution to yield more insights about their fans’ preferences and priorities, to enable the team to make data-driven decisions about upcoming fan experiences.

Solutions

To streamline and improve the ticket-buying process, TicketRev implemented its new product offering, which enables any professional sports team or organization to give their fans the ability to choose their preferred price for tickets.

The Marlins “Make Your Pitch” program allows fans to submit requests for tickets in their preferred seating location, for any remaining 2023 regular season Miami Marlins home games. Through the platform at Marlins.com/MakeYourPitch, fans are able to choose their seating preferences through four simple steps:

  1. Choose the game(s) they’re interested in
  2. Select their preferred seating location(s)
  3. Make their pitch per ticket
  4. Receive their tickets once their pitch is accepted

This new ticketing experience is seamless, convenient, and comes at no additional cost to the fans: The price they offer for the tickets is the price they pay.

Results

The Make Your Pitch program not only democratizes live event ticketing by allowing fans to make their pitch for their preferred price, but also provides the Marlins with newfound fan data including fan preferences, budget and time of purchase. Analyzing fan data around ticketing and seat selection gives the team a deeper understanding of the fanbase, allows them to provide more customized fan experiences, and yields further optimizations.
